Berri is a chipmunk and the girlfriend of Conker the Squirrel. She is one of the main characters of the Conker series, and is voiced by Louise Ridgeway.
Appearance
In Twelve Tales and Pocket Tales she had orange-brown fur, a red dress and shoes, and long, dark brunette hair. She also had eyeliner and green eyes.
Ever since the Conker series shifted to mature audiences, Berri had a complete design overhaul. Starting with Bad Fur Day, Berri had the typical sexualized look of being thin and curvaceous. Her fur color was changed to gray, and she became a lot taller—more than twice Conker's height. She also wears a pink sports bikini and matching pink shoes. In Live & Reloaded the back of her bra reads "Template:W", an obvious reference to the sex position. Despite being a chipmunk, neither of Berri's designs have a tail.
In Twelve Tales, a Berri head icon resembling her Bad Fur Day design (aside the green eyes) is inexplicably shown as the save file icon for her chapter. This implies her design change was underway since Twelve Tales.
History
Twelve Tales: Conker 64
Berri had a planned debut in Twelve Tales: Conker 64, originally planned for release in late 1998. Aside from Conker, Berri was the other playable character. She was playable in the more strategy-based segments. She even had a purple dinosaur sidekick.
Conker's Pocket Tales
In her debut in Conker's Pocket Tales, she was a small light brown chipmunk with brunette hair who was about the same size as Conker. She wore a red dress, and had long brown hair. In this game she plans a surprise birthday party for Conker but is kidnapped by the Evil Acorn. Conker must save her and retrieve his presents.
Conker's Bad Fur Day and Live & Reloaded
Berri reappears in Conker's Bad Fur Day. As aforementioned, she had a design change, and her accent is that of a stereotypical valley girl's.
She is seen working out in her house during the opening sequence. In between the events of Hungover and Uga Buga, Berri was kidnapped by a Rock Man, which is revealed when Conker finds her behind bars in the night club Rock Solid. Upon being freed, Berri does not recognize Conker from his caveman headgear. Shortly after freeing her, Conker finds Berri as Don Weaso's aide at the Feral Reserve Bank.
In the final chapter, Heist, Don Weaso orders Conker and Berri to rob the Federal Reserve Bank, in a parody of the lobby fight scene in Template:W. Conker's outfit is based on Template:W's, and Berri's is based on Template:W's. The mission was revealed to be a devised trap from the Panther King. After Conker takes the money in the vault, Don Weaso shoots Berri to death, as requested by the Panther King. Berri's corpse was then sucked out from the airlock and into space.
Towards the end of the final battle, the game locks, and Conker uses the opportunity to defeat Heinrich. In the commotion he forgets to ask the Programmer to revive Berri.
Berri's role is identical in Conker: Live & Reloaded, and she only appears in the single player adventure mode. She was also added as one of the bartenders in The Cock and Plucker in the game's menu select.
Conker's Other Bad Day (cancelled)
Some time after Berri's death, Conker would reportedly have a new girlfriend in the cancelled sequel Conker's Other Bad Day.[citation needed] Chris Seavor revealed that Berri would return in the game, as a Terminator sent after Conker, called the 'Berri-nator'. She was most likely the sequel's main antagonist.[citation needed]
In another tweet, Chris Seavor stated she was planned as the "Panther Queen", which was only revealed at the ending. The full details are unknown.[1]
Other appearances
The Twelve Tales-design Berri has a cameo appearance in Template:W. She is depicted on a poster hanging above a bunkbed in Rusty Bucket Bay. In the Xbox Live Arcade version the poster was replaced with Bad Fur Day-design Conker.
Personality
Berri is level-headed, smart, but also snobby. Most of her personality is stereotyped. She is also obsessed with fitness, as she often working out daily when Conker wasn't around. In spite of her intellect, her dim-witted side was also shown, specifically when she did not recognize Conker in the caveman headwear. She is very fond of the color pink. Despite her snobby attitude and her frustration with Conker's late night antics and alcoholism, she still cared about him, and often referred to him as "Conker Honey".
