Diddy Kong Racing is a racing-adventure video game for the Nintendo 64 starring Diddy Kong. It was developed and published by Rareware and was released in late 1997. Diddy Kong Racing marks the debut of Conker the Squirrel, who is one of the playable characters. His inclusion was to familiarize players with the character and to promote the then-upcoming Twelve Tales: Conker 64.
Conker was not included in the Nintendo DS remake, Diddy Kong Racing DS, because Microsoft owns the rights to the Conker franchise since they purchased Rareware in 2002.
